How Far Have We Fallen? And Is There Any Hope?

club 64-1Here’s a brief picture of our country:

A gunman massacres first graders in Newtown, Connecticut.   Every year over a million unborn babies are murdered in the US alone.  The number of suicides is on the rise.  And terrorism is still growing.

God is kicked out of our schools, government, and public places unless it’s convenient for political reasons.  We’ve seen our religious freedoms stomped on by the government by forcing companies to go against their religious convictions.

I’ve seen street preachers arrested for practicing their 1st Amendment right on public sidewalks and they weren’t blocking traffic or people.

Families are being torn apart due to alcoholism, drugs, divorce, debt, and domestic violence.   Our government turns a blind eye to our debt problem.  We see the ongoing battle to try to redefine the Biblical view of marriage between one man and one woman for life!

We see the rise of gay marriage and even gay pastors.  The media glorifies homosexuality and condemns anyone who takes a position that is the opposite of theirs.  Condoms are passed out in schools.  And TV shows, games, and movies glorify death, sex, and fame.

Evolution is the religion of our day.  People worship the creature rather than the Creator.  People put their faith in a theory that teaches everything came from nothing all by itself over billions of years.  Call me a fool for Christ and you would be correct, but you have to admit it takes a lot of faith to be an atheist.

By the way Mr. Atheist, stop using our worldview to try so hard to disprove the existence of God.  Remember, it’s our worldview that explains everything.  That means you can’t use words, air, logic, morality, time, or even science.  Those things and more belong to the Biblical worldview, not the evolutionary worldview.  Those things come from God not chance.

I understand why you use our worldview.  It’s because when you “believe” everything came from nothing all by itself over billions of years ago you have nothing to stand on, so you have no choice but to use the Biblical worldview or else what you say would have no purpose.

You’re only proving the Bible to be “true.”  And when a worldview has no truth and no reason for anything, all you’re left with is name calling and man-made ideas that change with the wind or with billions of years.

But our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever!  In the beginning….God!  Everything comes from Him!  Without Him, we wouldn’t be here.  To deny Him is to suppress the truth in unrighteousness.  And that’s what we’re seeing in America, a love of self, a love for sin, and a complete denial of God’s holy Word.

The evolutionary worldview says, “There’s no meaning to anything.”  If that’s true, (and only the Biblical worldview allows for such language) even what you say has no meaning.  You say, “We’re just evolved pond scum which came from gas particles over billions of years ago.”  Yeah right.  I think you’ve been smoking too much marijuana again!

We’ve also seen the American church turn liberal and become impotent to answer our social issues.  We’ve seen too many Christians place their trust in a Presidential election to change our country.  And we’ve seen the American church compromise on the book of Genesis and even the Gospel.  Becoming like the world isn’t going to change the world!

In the past, Christians and churches would stand up against these social ills.  Many have suffered and died for Christ’s name and the Gospel, but nowadays they compromise the truth and look and act and think just like the world.

We see the billion dollar gambling industry and the pornography industry which makes over 97 billion dollars per year!  Every second, that’s right, every second over 350 porn sites are added to web search engines.  And recently we have seen the legalization of marijuana in Colorado.

The owners of Club 64 in Denver completely turn a blind eye to the affects that marijuana has on our society.  It’s a joke to say, “It doesn’t hurt anybody.”  These are the facts and I barely skimmed the surface.

Is it any wonder why God hasn’t wiped out America?  One day, the days of grace will cease and His judgment will reign down like fire!  Unless you repent, you likewise will perish.

God’s Word is completely ignored and disregarded in our nation.  Our leaders worry more about their paycheck and political position than the heart of our nation.  America is desperate for God!  America must repent.  The church must also repent.

But make no mistake about it; God is still in control despite our nation’s sin and our personal sins.  He still reigns with power and glory and love and justice and grace and wisdom and absolute authority!

One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!  Dear Christian, you and I aren’t going to change the world by arguing or debating.

However, we can show the world our love for them because we too are sinners in need of a Savior.  We can put into action our love for God, our love for each other, our love for unbelievers, and our love for the truth.

It starts in your own home.  Men, it starts with us.  Be a man and stand up for the truth.  Be a man and go against what the world says is ok or cool.

Be a man and preach the Gospel….unashamed!  Start by preaching it to yourself.  Be a man and love your wife and children and apologize when you hurt them or fall short.  Be a man and put your desires and interests in the trunk, and lead your family with sacrificial love, patience, and godly wisdom.

Be a man and stand on God’s Word as the absolute authority!  We all will give an account one day before our Creator.  Jesus is Creator, Lord, Savior, and King!  That’s a fact despite our dark and sinful world, and that’s a fact whether you believe it or not.  It may seem that there is no hope for our nation but I would beg to differ.

Jonah succeeded when he preached to Nineveh because God was in it.  And if it’s God’s will, He will completely deliver America, but as always, He’ll do it when we stand up and preach the Gospel.  He’ll do it if we point people to Jesus Christ.  He’ll do it if we pray and place our trust in Him alone.  He alone is worthy!

We broke His laws and we deserve justice and eternal death.  Our nation deserves to be judged.  Our sin is so great that God Himself had to come to rescue us.

The crime scene is our heart, but Jesus came to transform our heart.  He came to make dead men live.  He came to set us free from sin, and set us free from the chains of death.

No amount of money, government policies, or good works can ever be enough to deliver us.  You can be a good person and go to church, but without Christ as your Savior, you will still die in your sins.  You can make all the money you want, but without Christ as your Savior, you will still die in your sins.

You can exercise, go green, and do yoga all you want, but without Christ as your Savior, you will still die in your sins.  You can cross your heart, and say the rosary, but without Christ as your Savior, you will still die in your sins.

You can ban this or protest that.  You can make something legal or illegal.  You can redefine something to suit your fancy, but without Christ as your Savior, you will still die in your sins.

One day we will die.  We die because of sin.  And we will all face our Maker.  And only one thing will matter on that day, and that one thing isn’t what most of America is living for.  Jesus as our Savior is the only thing that really matters!

The pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness isn’t our greatest need.  We need divine power, amazing grace, and perfect love to set us free.  Jesus died on the cross for your sins and mine.  Then He rose from the grave that we might live!

So in love, I beg you, turn from your sins before it’s too late, and then place your trust in Jesus Christ – your only hope for salvation and eternal life.  Then go to a dark and desperate world and let your light shine!

It’s His Word that will transform our heart, family, church, school, workplace, town, and nation!
