Does God need us?

Jerry Bridges said, “God calls us to serve Him, not because He needs us, but because we need Him.”

Thank God for His amazing grace!  I would like to add to Jerry’s quote:  God saves us not because He needs us, but because we need Him.  He’s the Potter, we’re the clay.

We who are unholy need to be made holy and the only way we can be made holy is if Jesus Christ who alone is holy, dies for our sins as an act of grace, and then transforms us and sanctifies us by His grace, and that transaction takes place when we place our trust in Jesus Christ alone!

God knows we are utterly hopeless without Him.  He knows we deserve nothing but wrath, but in His great mercy He rescues us from sin and death.   As the clay in the Potter’s hands, we are called to love Him, honor Him, trust Him, worship Him, and serve Him, not because He needs us, God is self-sufficient, but because we need more of Him!

There’s nothing I can do to earn favor with God.  All I have and all I am is because of God’s inexhaustible grace!  It would be prideful of me to think, look who I am, look at what I’ve accomplished, God needs me on His team!  How foolish.

Instead, magnify the precious name of Jesus, and look at who He is and look at what He has accomplished!  I need Him!  I don’t deserve Him, but He’s given me salvation, hope, and life!

And He longs to bless me with His grace, even when I’m being prideful.  While I was still a sinner Christ died for me – Rom. 5:8.  So my prayer is, less of me and more of Him!

You are the Potter, I am the clay, mold me and make me this is what I pray!  I dare you to think hard about His amazing grace today….it might cause you to rejoice!!!
